Snow Day

Once again, we got dumped on and on Monday I ended up battling the 9" of new snow in the driveway while the kids played. They love it when I have to go outside to shovel because otherwise it's hard to convince me to spend much time out in the cold. But after I conquered the driveway I did have some fun with them. Sadly, the snow had turned to powder overnight so the snowman was a failure. But the snow angels and the icicles made up for it.

My sweet girl

On Moday I took the time to drag out my Valentines decorations, of which I have very few (can we say Project Day, Audrey? Wow we haven't had one of those in a long time). And as I was putting them out I discovered that this one hadn't been finished (and I know I've had it more than a year!). There is supposed to be a wooden heart in between the I and the YOU. I explained this to Kaitlyn and told her Daddy would have to cut one out for us when he got home. My little Kate disappeared to her room for a while and when she came out she had a surprise for me. The little sweetie and cut and colored a red heart for me and told me "guess what Mom! You can just glue this on a block!" I'm thinking I really should do that, don't you? So Sam, when you get home I need another block so I can decopage Katy's heart to it. :)

Dance Class

My Mom has been nice enough to teach a dance class for Kaitlyn and a few other girls. On Friday mornings she picks her up early so they can go set up the room, then delivers her back home after class. Lately Ty has been sad that they go somewhere without him so we've been letting him go. He runs around before class starts, then tries to participate in the first few minutes. His attention span is pretty short and before long he starts trying to run around and I take him home. But it's very cute to watch him have so much fun. And Kaitlyn too - she is becoming a very good dancer.

Happy Birthday Sam!

My wonderful husband turns 29 today! As (bad) luck would have it, he isn't here to celebrate it with us. So we will do a little virtual celebration.

Here is the cake - I mean, cupcakes! Kaitlyn insisted that we HAD to do cake, so I made some cupcakes and am freezing most of them so we can have another party when he gets home. (and to save myself from eating them all alone - my waistline would not like that!)

Everyone ready to sing Happy Birthday?

(yes at the end Katy is saying "aww, not again!" No matter how many times we tried it we couldn't get Tyler to wait until the end of the song before he blew out the candle)

Happy Birthday sweetheart. I love you. The kids love you. We miss you. And we wish you much happiness on your birthday and every day.

*Everyone please feel free to post your well wishes for Sam in the comments section!

Still my baby

Tyler looks so OLD in all the photos I have taken lately. It makes me a little sad. So when I got a good look at the photo I snapped this morning when he fell asleep on the beanbag I was happy to see that in sleep he still looks like my baby.

As you may have guessed, we are still not feeling the best around here. Otherwise Ty would never have fallen asleep while watching a movie at 10 AM. And Katy wouldn't have been caught sleeping shortly after that. Poor girl got hit by a stomach bug this morning and spent the whole day on the couch. And their mommy - yeah I'm still sick and worn out too. Goodnight!

Housebound

We have been stuck at home this week, due to icky colds. Tyler had the hardest time sleeping so I have been pretty much a walking zombie. Ty seems to have conquered the cold and has managed to sleep through the last two nights - WOOHOO! (I'm doin' the happy dance here!). And it never seemed to get to Kaitlyn very much. I on the other hand am still in the "I think it's getting worse" phase. Oh well, at least the kids are feeling better.

So of course I haven't managed to leave the house this week for anything other than a quick run to preschool or Mom's house since Sunday. I made a huge mess and did a lot of scrapbooking, but I was going a bit crazy by yesterday. So I spent the morning doing projects with Mom while the kids played with Dad (so cute!) then the afternoon doing more scrapbooking with Dari. It felt really good. Today I am hoping to venture out to do some shopping - groceries at the very least.

So here are a few pic of the week:

Talking on the phone to Daddy
Kaitlyn modeling one of the new ornaments Mom bought for me. I'm working on collecting enough to redo the theme for my Christmas tree next year. And Mom has managed to hit a lot more of the after-Christmas sales than I have - much to my disappointment.

Sad face

A few minutes ago I took the popcorn bowl away from Tyler because he was making a mess instead of eating. He of course cried, and cried. And cried. And when it's "discipline" you never feel like you can be too oh-honey-I-love-you-it's-ok. So I figured as long as he was crying I'd get a photo of it. And a funny thing happened. The more photos I took, the more he calmed down. Check out this progression of photos.

Happy New Year

Welcome to 2009! I hope you all enter it with big plans, lots of goals, and plenty of enthusiasm. Or at least that you had fun on your day off today. :)
A big happy birthday to my mom (again). Her birthday was yesterday. We took her out to lunch. Go us LOL. I hate that it gets lost in among the rest of the holidays, but most of the time she doesn't seem to mind.

And here is Ty munching on the popcorn I was using to make snacks for New Years Eve. We had a lot of fun last night with Dari, KC and the gang. But now I'm exhausted (even though we didn't make it until midnight). Can I start my resolutions after I sleep for a week?
FYI I know this post is all fragmented and I don't care! I basically just wanted to send out New Years greetings and show off few more photos of my cute kids :)
