The best day ever

Kaitlyn and Sam had cooked up our plan for yesterday. First thing we had to do was go to the store for supplies. And while we were in Park City we did a bit of shopping too. Katy got to pick out a bunch of new pjs for summer (that she was SO excited about) and we stopped at WalMart for a rake. And of course we got sidetracked at WalMart and ended up going home with a new kite too. Kaitlyn had a hard time waiting for the wind to kick up so she could try out the new kite. But a neighbor friend happened to be outside so the two played together all afternoon. Sam and I did yard work - which wasn't exactly fun but I'm sure happy to have most of it done.

When the wind did start blowing, Katy and her friend had a lot of fun taking turns with her kite. (something you should all note - the friend's expensive kite couldn't get up in the air but the $2 kite from WalMart had no problem!). Ty preferred to play in the sandbox.

Then it was time for the main event - lighting the first campfire (is it really called a campfire if you aren't camping??) of the season. We roasted hot dogs.

Ty liked roasting the hot dog but chose to eat only Cheetos for dinner.

And finally - the marshmallows! Kaitlyn loved eating them and even liked the smores. Though she wanted someone else to do the roasting.

Ty preferred the deconstructed, uncooked version of the smores.
Kaitlyn's opinion of the day: "this is the best day ever!" She repeated this statement over and over during the evening. It's such a great feeling to be able to make a child that happy. And it makes me wonder...when did it stop being that simple to have my own "best day ever?"

My model

Just a few fun pics of the kids. Kaitlyn was in a modeling mood the other day. Ty wasn't.

Ty's "Baby"

Ty goes out to help Grandpa feed the cows almost every day. He loves everything about it and is SO cute out there. One day I really am going to do a big photo session and capture all the fun little details. But so far I'm just getting it in bits and pieces. Like yesterday. Ty went out feeding with Grandpa and Grandma and the rest of us stayed home. But halfway into it I get a call from Grandpa "you have to take a picture of this" he says. "I know," I say, "I'm going too." "No, now. He's hugging the calf and it's so cute." Ok, so off I go to take a picture of
Ty hugging the calf. Ty's calf, that he calls Baby is the friendliest one out there. And just so happens to be the calf I helped "deliver." The calf had no problem letting Ty pet him again, but we couldn't get Ty to do any more hugs :( I did however get some nice photos that I wanted to share.

Easter

Did everyone enjoy their Easter weekend? We did! We decorated eggs, had 3 Easter egg hunts, and Sam cooked our first BBQ of the year.

Dad's Hat

Just wanted to share these photos. I thought they were cute. When Sam came home from the base Sunday the kids tried on his hat.
